Job Position: Structured Cabling Technician
Location: Austin, TX 78758
Pay Rate: $20 $30
TradSTAR is hiring Structured Cabling Technicians for commercial projects throughout the Austin area. We are looking for dependable technicians with experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems in commercial environments.
Responsibilities
Install, route, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, conduit, and sleeves.
Build and dress MDF/IDF rooms, racks, cabinets, patch panels, and cable management systems.
Label, certify, and document structured cabling installations.
Perform cable testing using Fluke certification testers or equivalent equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and low-voltage drawings.
Troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
Maintain organized, clean, and professional installations while meeting project schedules.
Qualifications
1+ years of commercial structured cabling experience preferred.
Experience with Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, coaxial, and fiber optic installations.
Knowledge of TIA/EIA structured cabling standards.
Experience terminating RJ45 connectors, patch panels, keystone jacks, and fiber enclosures.
Familiarity with Fluke testers, cable analyzers, fusion splicers, and OTDR equipment is a plus.
Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
Ability to work from ladders and lifts.
Valid driver's license required.
