Description: Structured Cabling Technician
TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Structured Cabling Technicians for commercial low-voltage infrastructure projects throughout the Austin area. These positions support commercial construction, tenant finish-outs, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, schools, data centers, and enterprise network deployments.
We are seeking technicians with hands-on experience installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems in commercial environments.
Job Responsibilities
Install, route, support, and secure structured cabling systems in commercial facilities
Pull Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling through conduit, cable tray, ladder rack, J-hooks, and underground pathways
Install and terminate copper voice and data cabling systems
Build and dress MDFs, IDFs, telecommunications rooms, and network rack systems
Perform RJ45 terminations, patch panel punch-downs, and cable management installation
Install wireless access point cabling, backbone infrastructure, and horizontal cabling systems
Test and troubleshoot copper cabling using Fluke certification equipment
Assist with fiber optic installation, termination, and testing as needed
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, and cable schedules
Label and document cabling infrastructure in accordance with ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
Maintain clean and organized telecommunications rooms and work areas
Follow commercial job site safety standards and installation best practices
Technical Requirements
1+ years of commercial structured cabling experience
Experience pulling and terminating low-voltage cabling in commercial environments
Knowledge of cable pathways, telecommunications infrastructure, and industry installation standards
Ability to read blueprints and structured cabling layouts
Familiarity with MDF/IDF environments and rack buildouts
Experience working from ladders and lifts on active construction sites
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required
Preferred Experience
Fluke cable certification testing
Fiber optic installation and testing
BICSI standards and structured cabling best practices
Commercial construction, healthcare, industrial, or data center environments
Compensation & Benefits
