Brief Job Description
Internal applications will be given priority consideration for the position of Assistant Director of Student Conduct.
The Assistant Director (AD) serves as one of the University's student conduct officers and reports to the Associate Dean of Students. The AD assists in the oversight of the student conduct system, creating, training, and convening conduct panels and assisting with training staff on conduct policies and practices. The AD serves as an advocate for student interests under the Code of Conduct, placing the interests of students as expressed in the Code as the highest priority in operating the student conduct system; additionally, the AD will serve as the primary adjudicator for TIX referrals. The Assistant Director of Student Conduct will assist in addressing and investigating reported infractions of the Student Code of Conduct, conducting educational sessions for university community members, tracking violations, and scheduling Student Conduct administrative and board hearings as required. The AD stipulates and enforces sanctions for individual student respondents that are based on due process, progressive discipline, student development practices, restorative justice, personal responsibility, and educational interventions. The AD ensures consistency of sanctions and assists students with understanding the Code, Student Bill of Rights, and the entire University conduct system. The AD assists in championing process improvement initiatives/projects within the department and division. They will actively participate in division- wide projects and will participate in University - wide programming such as Open House, Move in, Move Out, Orientation, Commencement, etc. The AD will serve as back up in the day-to-day operations in the absence of the Associate Dean of Students. Due to the nature of student conduct processes, the position may require availability outside of standard business hours, including evenings, to attend hearings and meetings.
