The Student Affairs Case Manager is a unique and specialized position which blends the functions of non-clinical student consultation, program coordination of student referrals and intake, systems development and coordination for reporting and maintenance of student cases, and leadership in addressing factors which contribute to student attrition and improve student academic success. The Student Affairs Case Manager's role directly impacts the quality of students' educational experience and enhances the overall academic and learning experience at UNCW.
This position assists with coordinating the university's process for addressing the needs of students who have challenges with academic, health, conduct, substance misuse, financial, and social issues through providing myriad interventions, referrals, resources, and follow-up services; serves as a liaison to Housing & Residence Life, academic deans and designees, health care and mental health providers, staff, and parents relative to students requiring interventions and and/or in need of additional resources to succeed at UNCW; assists with the collection, review, coordination and management of the mental health and disciplinary at-risk student cases that come before the university's student behavioral intervention team (SBIT). This position will work closely with Housing & Residence Life on issues related to residential students, be a member of the Student Behavioral Intervention Team (SBIT), and report to the Assistant Dean (Student Support).
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act). This position will be required to complete annual training about reporting responsibilities and report Clery crimes that occur within one of three categories of properties: On-Campus property, Non-Campus Property, or Public Property.
