Primary Function

Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a student affairs specialist. This position provides support for the registrar's office and the student affairs division. This position monitors registration, attendance, and grade reporting processes and provides operational support for records and registration functions. The position is required to periodically work evenings and weekends, including participating in the annual commencement.

Essential Duties

  • Assists the registrar with monitoring attendance and grade reporting for all credit courses; conducts outreach to faculty and serves as a liaison to resolve attendance- and grade-reporting issues; processes and produces official transcripts for dual enrollment students and sends to the appropriate high school at the end of each academic term
  • Assists the registrar with registration of dual enrollment students in credit course sections offered at high school sites and collaborates with the director of dual enrollment and early college initiatives to resolve registration-related issues
  • Monitors and responds to faculty alerts and other indicators of academic concern for dual enrollment students; provides registration and student success outreach at participating high schools; collaborates with faculty, high school personnel, and college staff to support student persistence and academic success
  • Evaluates all high school transcripts for articulated credit and placement waivers, posts articulated credit and waivers, generates reports and mails student notification letters
  • Provides backup support to dual enrollment and early college initiatives staff as needed
  • Works with division administrative associates to ensure that students have an excellent student experience in their interaction with student affairs staff and provides coverage of information desk and main switchboard when needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate degree (two years of additional related work experience can be substituted for the education requirement)
  • Two years of administrative or teaching experience
  • Excellent computer, organizational, human relations, attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population on sensitive, confidential and complicated matters with discretion
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and provide excellent customer service
  • Preference will be given to applicants with:
  • A bachelors degree
  • Evidence of successful collaborations and using assessment and data as a part of decision making
  • Demonstrated success with programming and outreach related to student advising
  • Experience working in a college, university or high school setting, preferably as an academic advisor in post-secondary education
  • Bilingual English/Creole skills

Supplemental Information

This is a part-time position. The starting hourly rate for this position will likely range from $22.92 to $28.10 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. This position is scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week on a variable schedule that includes evening and weekend hours as needed. A typical schedule is Mon. - Fri., 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. This position is required to periodically work evenings and weekends, including participating in the annual commencement.
