Job Title: Student Apprentice

Department: Academic Services

Reports To: Building Principal

Job Type: Part-Time

Job Summary

The Teacher Apprentice role is designed for individuals pursuing a career in education who are actively enrolled in a teacher preparation program. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the classroom while working under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role supports the development of teaching skills, classroom management strategies, and professional growth in a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist certified teachers with lesson planning, instruction, and classroom management.

  • Provide support to students individually or in small groups to enhance learning outcomes.

  • Lead classroom activities under the guidance and supervision of the mentor teacher.

  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development sessions as required.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to student progress and classroom activities.

  • Actively engage in reflective practices to improve teaching strategies and student outcomes.

  • Adhere to school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Education:

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited teacher preparation program.

  • Progress Requirements:

  • Demonstrate consistent progress in the teacher preparation program by providing evidence of passing scores each semester.

  • Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and administrators.

  • Willingness to learn and implement new teaching methods.

  • Organized, dependable, and committed to professional growth.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage or stipend based on experience and educational progress.

  • Year 1 students will earn $13 an hour, Year 2 students will earn $14 an hour
