    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Archives and Special Collections (ASC) department is seeking detail-oriented students with an interest in libraries, history, museums, or historical collections. Student assistants will help to maintain and improve the collections so they may be used by internal and external audiences.  

    Some examples of relevant tasks include:

    • Shelving books and other materials
    • Relabeling folders and boxes
    • De-duplicating publications
    • Shifting collections and books
    • Scanning photographs and documents
    • Creating inventories
    • Identifying and organizing historical photographs
    • Applying descriptive metadata to materials
    • Completing other archival processing tasks

    Student Assistants in ASC are expected to complete a short series of on boarding tasks and be able to follow written instructions alongside hands-on training. Shifts must be completed during open hours which are 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday – Friday.  Please note that this is a project oriented position and there will not be time to complete homework or socialize during regularly scheduled shifts.
