The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Academic Advising Center is seeking friendly, helpful, caring and resourceful undergraduate students to serve as part of a dynamic team of peer advisors providing peer to peer academic advising to assist students with basic advising questions and serve as a resource to connect CLAS students with the Academic Advising Center and general campus resources.

Student Assistant CLAS Peer Advisor

Classification Minimum Requirements:
  • Current CLAS student with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Available to work 10 hours per week
  • Creative and interested in learning new skills
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations with discretion
  • Computer skills, proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Advise students on general advising questions including:

  • Next term registration
  • Tracking requirements, college requirements and university requirements
  • Minors
  • Dual degrees/double majors
  • Grad checks

Process forms such as minors and double majors. Assist with the general advising email inbox. Run basic advising workshops such as "How to read your audit" or "To drop or not"

Expected Salary:

$14.00/hr

Required Qualifications:
  • Current CLAS student with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Available to work 10 hours per week
  • Creative and interested in learning new skills
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations with discretion.
  • Computer skills, Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:
  • Familiarity and understanding of how to read Degree Audits
  • Familiarity and understanding of how to navigate ONE.UF
  • Accountable Self Starter
  • Capable of working in a team setting
