Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, provide computational and experimental assistance for interdisciplinary studies involving computational and molecular biology.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Apply and evaluate computational tools for protein engineering.
• Develop, organize, and maintain reproducible computational pipelines for model execution, data processing, and analysis.
• Maintain well-structured project directories, datasets, documentation, and computational workflows.
• Design primers, plasmids, and molecular constructs for experimental validation.
• Perform routine molecular biology techniques, including PCR, electrophoresis, DNA purification, and related methods.
• Maintain accurate experimental and computational records and communicate results with the research team

FLSA Nonexempt Grade 99H Salary Details $15.92/hour Minimum Salary 15.92 Mid Range Salary 75.00 Maximum Salary 150.00 Offer Information

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate studies at Rutgers University with training in computer science, data science, computational biology, bioengineering, biology, or a related field.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong interest in computational and molecular biology, protein engineering, and interdisciplinary research, with attention to detail and willingness to learn new computational and laboratory techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Python, machine learning, Linux-based computing, molecular biology, or cell culture is desirable but not required; specialized training will be provided as needed.

Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.
• Work Environment: Lab and computational environment with moderate noise. Work may involve biological materials and hazardous chemicals commonly used in molecular biology laboratories.
