Job Summary

The Student Success Leader will prepare and lead weekly mentoring, coaching, one-on-one and small group tutoring, supplemental instruction, and study sessions with incarcerated undergraduate students. Student Success Leader will also assist incarcerated scholars with library research, preparing written works for submission to the Iron Quill, and preparing poster presentations for Scholars Day and At The Core among other things. Student Success Leaders also support Prison Education faculty and students by making copies, delivering instructional materials and supplies, etc.

Required Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at UWG in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
• Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
• Must have a drivers license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions

• Must have reliable transportation.

• Must be able to lift and carry boxes of books.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in any field.
• Currently enrolled in a UWG graduate program.
• Experience working/volunteering with vulnerable and diverse populations.
• System-impacted graduate students are encouraged to apply.

Special Applicant Instructions

This position is 100% in-person between the Carrollton campus and assigned prison site. (Training for working in prisons and with incarcerated scholars will be provided.) Any time the Student Success Leader is working inside a prison site, the faculty Site Coordinator will also be present.
