Job Summary

This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity for a current student to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the success of Lake Sumter State College. The Student Assistant will provide essential support, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure the efficient operation of departmental activities. This is a part-time position with an expected commitment of no more than 25 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible to accommodate the student's academic and other responsibilities. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating. Students cannot work during class meeting times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Open and close the food pantry according to the designated schedule
  • Ensure the food pantry is clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with stocking shelves, rotating stock, and disposing of expired items appropriately
  • Greet and assist students visiting the pantry, ensuring a welcoming and caring environment
  • Answer questions about available resources and services
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when interacting with students
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining inventory records
  • Assist with planning and executing food drives and awareness campaigns
  • Help maintain accurate records of student usage and inventory compliance with organizational guidelines
  • Help ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health codes, and campus policies
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Student Food Pantry Manager.
  • Ability to travel amongst various campuses and attend College events, or off campus, as required.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite

Minimum Qualifications & Education

  • Currently enrolled at Lake Sumter State College (min. 6 credit hours)
  • Currently, hold and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Minimum age of 18 and not dual-enrolled
