OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE: Student Assistant- Circulation Desk- O''Shaughnessy-Frey Library- Evening Shifts

LOCATION: St. Paul Campus, O''Shaughnessy-Frey Library

PAY RATE: $16.50

HOURS:

Library hours for the fall semester will be:

Monday-Thursday: 7:30am-Midnight

Friday: 7:30 am-5pm

Saturday: 10am-6pm

Sunday: 10am-Midnight

Student Employee Position - Evening Closing ShiftsWe are currently hiring student employees for evening closing shifts. Available shifts are Sunday through Thursday nights from 9:00 PM to midnight, and applicants should be available to work primarily during those hours.When submitting your availability, please include all daytime and evening availability. This helps us better understand your schedule and identify any additional staffing opportunities.Interested students should be dependable, punctual, and comfortable working later evening hours.

JOB SUMMARY

The O''Shaughnessy-Frey Library seeks reliable and attentive workers who possess customer service skills to work at the Library Services (circulation) desk. Library student employees are responsible for the Library Services desk and are the front face of the library. Library student employees are responsible for a variety of job duties to help with library operations.

Libraries welcome all interested applicants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Check out and check in books, media, and other library materials
  • Answer basic informational, directional, and library policy questions
  • Direct questions to the Librarian on Duty, a supervisor, or another department on campus
  • Perform stacks maintenance, including shelving, straightening, inventory, shelf reading, and shifting
  • Search for and retrieve items from the collection
  • Process hold requests, inter-campus deliveries, and the regional courier
  • Assist with document delivery scanning
  • Assist with special projects
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures
  • Ability to work effectively with the public
  • Working shifts as assigned or arranging for a substitute
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS

Applicants should be able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Punctuality and dependability are a necessity.

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
