Bearcat Buddies Tutoring ProgramFederal Work Study eligible students will tutor Cincinnati Public School children in Math and Reading during the Academic Year 2026-2027. Tutors will earn $16.00 per hour and may receive transportation provided for selected schools. The program focuses on personalized tutoring and community engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesAttendance: Attend all tutoring sessions throughout the semester.Setting Goals: Collaborate with students and teachers to set realistic academic goals and develop a plan to achieve them.Building Confidence: Encourage and motivate students to build self‑confidence and reduce academic anxiety.Encouraging Study Skills: Teach effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills that foster independent learning.Maintaining Communication: Keep open lines of communication with students and teachers.Fostering a Positive Relationship: Establish a trusting and supportive rapport with students to create a comfortable learning environment.Staying Professional: Uphold professional standards in interactions with students, maintain punctuality, and handle issues with discretion and professionalism.Skills & QualificationsSubject Knowledge: Understand the subject being taught to explain concepts clearly and answer questions accurately.Communication Skills: Explain concepts in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, both verbally and in writing.Patience: Be patient and understanding, especially when students struggle with difficult concepts or need extra time to grasp material.Motivational Skills: Encourage and inspire students to stay motivated and engaged in their learning process.Empathy: Understand students' perspectives and emotional needs, fostering a supportive and non-judgmental learning environment.RequirementsThis position will accept Federal Work Study students.Additional Science of Reading Training is required for Reading Coach positions.BenefitsTransportation to selected schools is provided for free.You can select a school that offers remote opportunities (Cincinnati Digital Academy).Schools are within walking distance to campus.Earn $16 per hour (up to your award amount).Give back to your community in a meaningful way.Equal Opportunity & E-VerifyUC is an E-Verify employer.
