Responsible for maintaining a caseload of students-athletes to enhance academic strategy development and support student success. The Student Athlete Success Specialist encourages achievement of goals through self-assessment, reflection and connection to campus and community resources with a goal of graduation. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferably in social work, psychology, counseling and education.
- One (1) year of experience in academic support services in an educational or non-profit setting. Experience can be in advising, mentoring, tutoring, student programming or student services.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education or related field.
- One (1) year experience in higher education retention programs.
- Experience using an online student engagement system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Ability to increase persistence, retention, and graduation rates.
- Ability to creatively motivate, empower, and recognize students.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and decision-making abilities.

- Knowledge of utilizing social media network communications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
