Job SummaryThe Office of Admissions is seeking a Student Clerk to assist with incoming calls, emails, and general questions pertaining to admissions and basic residency evaluations. The employee will be tasked with advising students on how to navigate through the residency reclassification process, help students understand the required supporting documentation and meet the appropriate deadlines. The ideal candidate will be able to relay complex information to a variety of people while maintaining excellent customer service.ResponsibilitiesMaintain a working knowledge of admissions policy for the specific job area.Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail.Provide customer service support at the office windows and via phone calls regarding international undergraduate admissions and residency.Respond to emails regarding application materials.Perform general office duties as needed.May be required to cross‑train in other areas of Admissions to assist as needed.Answer phone calls and emails regarding residency.Assist students and parents at the walk‑up window.Complete basic residency evaluations.Maintain a working knowledge of Utah residency policies.Other clerical and office duties as assigned.Work under close supervision, perform repetitive tasks, and may be required to perform under strict deadlines.Minimum QualificationsMust be a current University of Utah student.PreferencesExperience and/or interest in working with students and/or Admissions.Commitment of 15-19 hours per week.Ability to work at least three hours at a time.One year of general office experience or equivalency preferred.One‑year data entry experience or equivalency preferred.Experience or interest working in education or public administration preferred.Professional appearance and demeanor.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software systems.Excellent customer service skills.Strong speaking/phone skills.Strong problem‑solving skills.Ability to relay complex information to students, parents, and other campus partners.Strong professional writing ability.Ability to adapt to updated policies and processes.High attention to detail and ability to proofread and verify data.Equal Employment OpportunityConsistent with state and federal law, the University of Utah does not discriminate based upon race, ethnicity, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy‑related conditions, genetic information, or protected veteran's status.
