Job Summary

The Student Communications Manager is responsible for the coordination, execution, and operational management of University student and internal communications across multiple channels and platforms. Working closely with the Executive Director/Director, Student Communications and departments across the University, this position translates communication plans into timely, coordinated, and effective student-facing communications.

The Manager manages the college-wide student communications calendar and supports communications across Mercy Connect, Blackboard, website, Chatbot, email, Tassel, Bright Author, and other platforms.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines while working collaboratively across departments.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the student communications calendar, ensuring communications are appropriately scheduled, coordinated, and deployed
  • Serve as an expert in the operation and deployment of non-CRM communication platforms, including Mercy Connect, Blackboard, website, Chatbot, Tassel, Bright Author, mobile app, internal and exterior signage, and other University platforms
  • Lead systems integration efforts to streamline internal and student communications by converting all messages to appropriate communications platforms
  • Serve as the liaison to ensure aligned communication strategies across departments and through social media
  • Assist with deploying CRM-related communications (student and internal audiences) as needed
  • Execute approved communication plans across appropriate channels, ensuring messaging is timely, accurate, targeted, and aligned with University priorities
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying upcoming student needs, deadlines, and initiatives that require coordinated communications
  • Provide input into communication planning, including recommendations around timing, sequencing, audiences, channels, and execution
  • Coordinate communications for major University initiatives serving as the communications liaison while partnering with program owners on content and timing
  • Build and maintain relationships with departments across the University to coordinate communication needs, timelines, approvals, and deliverables
  • Manage communication-related projects from planning through execution and track deadlines, dependencies, and outstanding needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication processes, workflows, and the overall student communication experience
  • Monitor communications, troubleshoot deployment issues, and support quality assurance prior to launch
  • Assist with campaign reporting and evaluation of communication effectiveness
  • Support university-wide brand compliance through merchandise ordering and supplemental pieces

Required Skills & Experience

  • Exceptional written, verbal, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communications in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to take initiative
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn and navigate new platforms and systems
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and communication platforms; Slate experience preferred
  • Experience with Drupal or another content management system preferred
  • Familiarity with communication reporting and analytics
  • 3+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications, student communications, or multi-channel campaign execution
  • A passion for communications and a commitment to excellence

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required

Physical/Other Requirements

  • Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per University policies
  • Full-time position
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods or to meet deadlines
  • Participation at University events is required to support communication needs
