OVERVIEW

Job Title: Student Conversion Operations Assistant

Location: St. Paul

Pay: $22 per hour

Hours: TBD

Position Summary:

The Student Conversion Assistant supports the arena operations team in preparing and maintaining event spaces for a variety of activities, including sporting events, concerts, and special functions. This role involves physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely lift, move, and transport objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Set up and tear down event equipment, including:
• Chairs, tables, and railings
• Platforms and staging
• Basketball court flooring
• Ice decking and dasher boards
• Glass installation and removal for hockey events
• Temporary stair systems
• Assist with conversions between event types (e.g., ice rink to basketball court).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after setups.
• Follow all safety protocols and operational guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience in event setup or manual labor is a plus.
• Knowledge of basic hand tools and equipment handling

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a student.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more repeatedly.
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliability and punctuality are essential.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
