Background
The mission of the Charter School of Educational Excellence ("CSEE") is to produce students who meet or exceed all New York State learning standards. CSEE will do this by creating a challenging learning environment with high expectations for every child, with an emphasis on the basic subject areas of English-language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. The school will employ standards-based and research-proven curriculum, implement best educational practices, use a variety of assessments to measure ongoing student progress in skills and content learning, and support teachers with professional development activities that are aligned with the instructional program.
CSEE's emphasis on basic subjects will give students a strong academic foundation that will allow them to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. The school will also expose students to a diverse curriculum that promotes appreciation of art, music, and cultural awareness. The Charter School of Educational Excellence will provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students and foster a strong partnership with families and the community.
Position Overview
The Charter School of Educational Excellence Data Assistant understands and promotes the school's vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The School Data Assistant's responsibilities include assisting the Data Director with data entry and maintaining the school''s systems.

Responsibilities & duties (including, but not limited to)
Student Information System & Records
Management of student attendance information (K-12) and providing daily attendance reports
Ensure that Powerschool database system's information is accurate and up to date
Maintenance and safeguarding of students'' cumulative records (including requesting missing documents from students' previous school) and ensuring school compliance with applicable laws of confidentiality and record-keeping
Assist with the creation of district benchmark assessments and data analysis
Prepares customized reports for internal school needs and assists in the school's accountability and audit reporting
Analyzes data from student data exams and is able to create charts and graphs with data.
Maintenance of school database within Powerschool (student information system), including but not limited to enrollment, demographic information, staff, and state/federal information
Attend professional development and training sessions as needed
Respond to parent inquiries in person, by phone, or via email
Performs other related work as required by the Student Data Director

Academic & Certification Qualifications
__ Work experience & skills
Minimum of 2 years' office experience
Experience working in data management in a school setting and/or urban communities preferred
Knowledge and experience in the PowerSchool database system
Strong written, grammatical, presentation, and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability in utilizing office equipment and software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs, Sheets, and Forms).
Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a diverse team of teachers, support staff, and administrators
Demonstrated knowledge in the operations of office equipment, such as the following: multi-line telephone, photocopier, fax, computer, printer, laminator, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge of office methods and procedures used in maintaining an office
