JOB DESCRIPTION

Thank you for your interest in working as a Gallery Attendant at 437CO!

437CO is located at 437 Colorado Avenue, a short drive from the CMU Main Campus and within biking distance. Gallery hours are usually 2 pm – 7 pm, Monday – Saturday, year-round. As part of Colorado Mesa University, 437CO is a “teaching” gallery. The gallery features national and international guest artists' work as well as CMU senior thesis exhibitions. Gallery admission is free and all receptions and artist events are free and open to the public. https://www.coloradomesa.edu/art/gallery/index.html

Gallery Attendants operate the gallery on a day-to-day basis, greeting visitors, selling artwork, and maintaining the gallery space. General responsibilities include working alone, safe handling of artwork, security of the gallery, accurate cash handling, and following/enforcing regulations regarding alcohol sales. During special events such as First Friday Opening Receptions, Gallery Attendants act as hosts, selling artwork and providing light food and beverage service, typically working until 8pm or later. Educational opportunities include installation and de-installation of exhibitions under the supervision of the Gallery Director, a faculty member of the Department of Art & Design.
