Canine Assisted Services Student Employment Salary: $12.00- $13.00 I. Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to provide students with hands-on, industry-relevant experience in canine boarding, daycare, grooming, and training operations while supporting the daily maintenance and professional standards of the Canine Boarding, Grooming, and Training Facility. This role is designed to strengthen technical skills, animal handling competency, customer service abilities, and operational knowledge in preparation for a future career in the canine profession. II. Duties and Responsibilities: Animal Care & Handling •Admit and discharge pets in a professional and courteous manner. •Safely handle, house, monitor, and care for dogs in kennel, daycare, grooming, and training environments. •Assist with structured daycare activities and supervised play. •Support training sessions under the supervision of the Program Director or Lead Trainer. •Bathe, trim, dry, and groom pets under the supervision of the Program Director or Lead Groomer. Facility Maintenance & Sanitation •Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, grooming areas, bathing and drying stations, daycare spaces, yards, and common areas at all times. •Follow established cleaning protocols to ensure a safe and healthy environment for animals and staff. Client Service & Administrative Support •Schedule appointments for grooming, boarding, daycare, and training services. •Communicate professionally with clients regarding services, pet status, and facility policies. •Assist with check-in/check-out procedures and documentation as required. Operational Responsibilities •Review and complete assigned shift/area task lists and weekly task lists. •Follow safety protocols and facility procedures. •Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and accountability in all areas of operation. III. Qualifications – Education, Experience, and Skills •Must be currently enrolled as a full-time Hocking College student. •Must meet federal requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). •Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. •Enrollment in the Canine Associate of Science (AS) Degree program, Grooming Certificate program, or Training Certificate program •Prior experience in a professional canine facility (boarding, daycare, grooming, or training). •Strong animal handling and restraint skills •Knowledge of canine behavior and safety practices •Demonstrate a positive, professional, and customer-focused attitude. •Customer service experience preferred. •Strong written and verbal communication skills. •Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. •Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. •Physical capability to lift, stand for extended periods, and perform cleaning tasks •Willingness and ability to complete all required training and professional development assigned by the supervisor, Human Resources, or the College.
