Position Summary

The Biology Lab Assistant supports faculty by preparing and organizing materials for lab classes, maintaining a clean and safe lab environment, and assisting with equipment setup and cleanup. This role offers hands-on experience in a scientific setting while helping ensure smooth lab operations for students and instructors.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Prepare lab materials, specimens, and equipment for scheduled classes and experiments
• Set up and clean lab benches, glassware, and instruments before and after use
• Restock supplies and assist with inventory of chemicals, models, and tools
• Label and organize samples, slides, and biological materials as directed
• Follow all safety procedures and assist in maintaining compliance with lab safety protocols
• Dispose of biological waste properly in accordance with college and state guidelines
• Assist faculty and staff with special projects, demonstrations, or events related to the biology program

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Excellent English communication skills
• Ability to frequently bend, stretch, and lift
