Job Title:Lead Youth Summer Program Counselor
Department:Lifelong Learning / Summer Programs

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee participants within an assigned group, ensuring smooth program movement, successful dining transitions, and overall daily oversight when not in academic programming.
  • Serve as a bridge between leadership and supervisory responsibilities, supporting counselors and occasionally leading specialized supervisory tasks throughout the camp day.
  • Manage summer program group operations, maintain adherence to schedules and program expectations, problem-solve as needed, and communicate clearly with participants, staff, and program leadership.
  • Work collaboratively within a supervisory capacity; candidates should either be currently enrolled in or have completed a QU program.
  • Maintain First Aid and CPR certification (training provided).
  • Provide medical supervision as needed, following a student’s plan of care—specifically for summer student participants requiring EpiPens or diabetic monitoring. (training provided).
  • Support student engagement and success in all aspects of the program, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Chaperone and assist with planning and implementation of two off‑campus weekend field trips for resident summer student participants.
  • Ensure participants are properly supervised at all times during working hours.
  • Model appropriate behavior and reinforce program expectations and procedures.
  • Promote a positive, supportive environment for participants and staff.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Understand all emergency protocols and guidelines associated with the summer program.
  • Notify first aid staff or appropriate personnel of any medical issues or safety concerns, including those related to a student’s plan of care.
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have earned an Associate’s degree or be a full- or part-time student entering their junior year of an undergraduate program.
  • First Aid Certification (training provided).
  • CPR Certification (training provided).
  • EpiPen Certification (training provided).
  • Prior youth camp or summer camp counseling experience (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Hours of Position:
  • $625 weekly compensation stipend
  • Full-time, , 4week seasonal commitment required‑week seasonal commitment required
  • Work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Saturday hours required for field trip chaperoning (2)
  • Evenings and Sundays off
  • Room and board available upon request (single room accommodation and meals)
