What youll do on a typical day

The Student Engagement and Success Student Support Specialist provides administrative, operational, and customer service support for Academic Advising and Career Development. This position serves as a primary point of contact for students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and student-centered experience while supporting the day-to-day operations of Student Engagement and Success. The position reports to the Senior Director, Student Engagement and Success.

Serve as a primary point of contact for students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors seeking assistance from Academic Advising and Career Development.

Provide professional, timely, and student-centered customer service in person, by phone, email, and other communication channels.

Assist students with navigating college processes and connecting with appropriate campus resources and support services.

Manage front desk operations, student check-in processes, and service delivery functions for Academic Advising and Career Development.

Manage shared departmental phone lines, email accounts, and general inquiries.

Provide administrative support for Academic Advising and Career Development programs, services, events, and initiatives.

Coordinate scheduling, meeting logistics, room reservations, purchase requests, and other departmental operations.

Assist with maintaining office supplies, equipment, records, reports, and departmental documentation.

Utilize Starfish and other student success technologies to support student engagement, communication, referrals, appointment management, virtual waiting room functions, and service delivery.

Enter and maintain accurate student service documentation, notes, referrals, and related records in accordance with departmental and institutional procedures.

Assist with data collection, reporting, record maintenance, and assessment activities that support student success initiatives.

Support career fairs, employer engagement activities, transfer events, workshops, and other student success programming.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus departments to support student success and ensure effective service delivery.

Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.

Seek opportunities to improve processes, increase operational efficiency, and enhance the student experience.

Participate in professional development activities and maintain proficiency with institutional technologies and systems.

Participate in departmental, divisional, and college meetings and serve on committees as appropriate.

Support the mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of the College.

Perform other duties as assigned that support the goals of Student Engagement and Success and the College.

Your attributes

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.

One year of experience providing administrative support, customer service, student services, office operations, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Experience working in higher education, student affairs, academic advising, career services, or a related area.

Experience using student information systems, CRM platforms, Starfish, or other student success technologies.

Experience coordinating events, communications, or office operations.

Experience supporting student success, retention, or engagement initiatives.

Work environment

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus and College locations; travel between campus locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.
