Position Details

The Student Engagement Consultant provides leadership, training, and direct support to improve student engagement and behavioral outcomes across the district. This position focuses on building staff capacity through coaching, modeling, and implementation of effective behavior strategies, while coordinating and supervising Student Engagement Paraprofessionals. The consultant works collaboratively with administrators, special education staff, and classroom teams to create consistent, proactive systems that support all learners.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in education, special education, social work, or related field preferred

  2. Valid Michigan teaching certificate or related licensure preferred

  3. Experience working with students with significant behavioral or social-emotional needs

  4. Demonstrated knowledge of behavior intervention strategies, MTSS, CPI, and trauma-informed practices

  5. Experience coaching or leading adults preferred

  6. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

  7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all settings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate Student Engagement Paraprofessionals across the district
  • Provide training and ongoing coaching to paraprofessionals and staff on behavior strategies
  • Support development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and IEP supports
  • Model effective de-escalation and student engagement strategies in classrooms
  • Assist staff during high-need or crisis situations
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and special education teams
  • Participate in student support meetings and problem-solving teams
  • Analyze behavior trends and recommend proactive, system-level strategies
  • Strengthen internal capacity by building consistent districtwide practices for student engagement and behavior support
  • Fulfills additional duties as directed by Superintendent.

Annual Base Salary: $85,000-$95,000

Work Schedule:

220 Days
