Georgia Highlands College is a multi-campus, state college member of the University System of Georgia. Founded in 1970 as Floyd Junior College, it now serves more than 6,000 students in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama across its five locations in Rome, Cartersville, Marietta, and Dallas. Job Summary

The Student Engagement Coordinator supports student involvement and success by coordinating programs and activities, supporting registered student organizations and student leaders, and contributing to engagement initiatives across GHC locations. This position is not available for remote work. This is an on-site position based out of our Cartersville campus.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties include:

  • Support and advance the Colleges mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate and support co-curricular programs, activities, and events designed to promote student engagement, belonging, and connection to the College.
  • Support assigned registered student organizations and their advisors with organizational development, event planning, and other engagement needs.
  • Provide advising and support to the Student Government Association (SGA) and Ambassadors, as needed, with organizational operations, event planning, and other engagement needs.
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of major Student Engagement initiatives and signature programs, including Homecoming, Club Roundup, leadership programs, and other college-wide events.
  • Coordinate Student Engagement programs and initiatives at assigned GHC locations and collaborate with faculty and staff to identify engagement opportunities across campuses.
  • Coordinate student-facing communications for Student Engagement, including social media, website content, campus-wide student emails, and other promotional efforts.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop and promote Student Engagement programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of training and resources for student organization officers and advisors.
  • Support the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of student employees and/or student leaders assigned to Student Engagement.
  • Assist with tracking participation, program outcomes, and other Student Engagement data to support assessment and continuous improvement.
  • Manage assigned purchases and expenditures in accordance with established Student Engagement budgets and GHC policies and procedures.
  • Serve on College committees and participate in institutional initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution.

  • One (1) year of experience in higher education, student services, academic support, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.

  • Three (3) years experience in higher education, student services, academic support, or a related field.

  • Experience working with student information systems, CRM systems, LMS systems, or similar software.

Proposed Salary

This is a non-exempt position with a hiring range of $20.73 to $22.08 per hour, which annualizes to $43,125.33 to $45,926.40 per year. Compensation is based on experience.

  • Knowledge of student engagement, student development, and practices that promote student involvement, belonging, and success.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices related to student organizations, student leadership, and co-curricular programming.
  • Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the ability to maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement student programs, activities, and events.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with students and provide effective advising and support to student organizations and student leaders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use technology and systems related to student engagement, communication, and program administration.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and utilize information and data to assess student engagement initiatives and support continuous improvement.
