Washington College is seeking a full-time Student Engagement Coordinator. The Student Engagement Coordinator, reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Engagement and Success, is a key member of the student engagement team, responsible for building a vibrant and fun college community where students experience a sense of connection and belonging.
The Student Engagement Coordinator works with student leaders, interdepartmental colleagues, community partners, and outside vendors to support student engagement and guide student leaders in best practice event management. This position mobilizes student involvement, champions community spirit, and directly oversees select campus-wide events, festivals, and student-led trips.
Essential Functions:
Model and promote positive social engagement on campus through strong interpersonal connections and community building.
- Get to know the student leaders on campus.
- Share meals in the dining hall with students regularly.
- Host, attend, and support evening and weekend programs.
Guide student leaders in event & activity management.
- Campus Groups training.
- Venue & catering bookings.
- Marketing.
- Day-of facilitation.
Supply organization and ordering.
- Support Transportation logistics.
- Manage transportation requests for student-led trips.
- Assist the Transportation Manager with vehicle maintenance.
Manage the Campus Groups Platform
- Review & approve Campus Groups submissions.
- Input venue requests for student groups into Ad Astra.
- Submit catering orders on behalf of student groups to AVI via CaterTrax.
- Work with SGA clubs, Student Events Board, Fraternities, & Sororities & affinity groups to keep the platform updated with current organization and officer information.
Oversee campus-wide student activities, festivals, and special events including:
- Welcome Week
- Shoremal
- Fall Fest
- Birthday Ball
- Music Fest
- Spirit Initiatives
Maximize Hodson Student Center
- Assist student workers in creating a positive & welcoming student center.
- Collaborate with students, AVI, Buildings & Grounds, OIT, and Housekeeping to maintain and promote programming in the Egg, Goose Nest, Golden Goose, Workroom, and Hodson Commons
- Make sure audio & video equipment, game tables, and event supplies are functional and well maintained.
Promote Student Events
- Work closely with the Student Managers for Marketing and Promotion.
- Promote and celebrate events on Student Engagement social media.
- Create and distribute weekly event highlights to include local community, theatre, athletic, and student sponsored activities and events.
- Manage Hodson student tabling requests submitted to Student Engagement.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Demonstrated experience in student engagement, community building, and student leadership development.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
- Highly motivated with contagious positivity.
- Proficiency with event management tools, office productivity software and social media (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Campus Groups, Canva, Instagram).
Salary: $36,000
