Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Student Engagement & Success department on the Dahlonega campus. The Student Assistant for Student Engagement provides administrative, programmatic, and operational support to the Office of Student Engagement, with a primary focus on assisting the Associate Vice President of Student Engagement. This position offers students a hands-on opportunity to develop professional skills in higher education, event planning, leadership development, and student involvement initiatives. The Student Assistant plays a key role in supporting departmental priorities, enhancing student experiences, and contributing to a vibrant campus community at UNG thought he areas of Housing and Residence Life, Student Impact Initiatives and the Center for Student Engagement.
Responsibilities
Administrative Support
Assist the Associate Vice President with daily administrative tasks, including scheduling, email communication, and document preparation
Maintain organized records, files, and reports related to student engagement initiatives
Support data tracking and basic assessment efforts for programs and events
Program & Event Support
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of student engagement programs and events
Help with event logistics including setup, breakdown, registration, and on-site support
Collaborate with campus partners and student organizations to support programming efforts
Student Engagement & Outreach
Serve as a welcoming and professional representative of the Office of Student Engagement
Provide information and guidance to students regarding involvement opportunities
Assist with marketing and promotional efforts, including social media, flyers, and campus outreach
Leadership & Professional Development
Participate in training and development opportunities provided by the department
Gain exposure to student affairs practices, leadership development models, and campus engagement strategies
Contribute ideas to enhance student involvement and campus programming
Special Projects
Support special initiatives and projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President
Conduct basic research or benchmarking related to student engagement best practices
Assist with preparation of presentations and reports for divisional leadership
