STUDENT ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION ANALYST (Evergreen) (Open)

Pay Grade: C40206 H Classification: Student Environmental Remediation Analyst

Class Definition: GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

To assist a superior by performing the less complex scientific or engineering tasks in the field of environmental science or engineering; and to do related work as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the general supervision of a superior from whom general and specific work assignments and instructions are received with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment; work is reviewed in process and upon completion for application of accepted scientific and/or engineering methods and techniques.

Illustrative Examples of Work Performed:

Assist in ensuring consistency and certainty in the application of clean up objectives for soil and groundwater at contaminated properties in order to appropriately manage risks to human health and the environment; Under the direction of a superior review technical information which may include or relate to laboratory analysis of environmental media and the results thereof, Application of numerical environmental media quality standards, and technical reports relating to site conditions and proposed remedies; Conduct research to develop policy and/or regulation; Compile and analyze data; Prepare documents of correspondence consistent with Department processes and procedures to communicate with responsible parties regarding their responsibilities under the Departments rules and regulations; Interact with the general public to appropriately disseminate information regarding the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites.

Required Qualifications for Appointment

A working knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental science or engineering as it relates to contaminated sites and the remediation thereof; A working knowledge of chemistry relative to contaminants and environmental media as well as contaminant fate and transport; The ability to complete environmental science or engineering field investigations; The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with members of the public as well as colleagues both verbally and in writing; and related capacities and abilities.
