Job Summary
The Oberlin College Department of Studio Art is seeking a student worker to serve as a figure drawing life model for weekly recurring sessions on Thursdays evenings for a roughly three hour period of time per week.
Student must be available between 5:45pm and 9:15pm Thursdays.
Responsibilities
This student figure model's primary responsibilities are to arrive prepared, assist in setting up/breaking down the space, stay for the duration of the session, hold reasonably comfortable poses, and communicate with the session monitor to make the session run smoothly and safely. It is expected that the drawing model be capable of holding a single standing, seated, or reclined pose to the best of their ability for the duration of a set period of time, decided in conjunction with, or at the direction of, the drawing session monitor. The comfort and privacy of the figure model is of the utmost importance - this figure will pose clothed for the duration of all sessions.
Qualifications
Applicant must be an actively enrolled student of Oberlin College. Applicants must have adequate ability to stand and sit/recline in dynamic poses for extended periods of time ranging from 1-30 minutes in length. Breaks are provided between poses throughout the sessions. While athletic ability is not required, body awareness and the ability to twist, turn, bend and accentuate the 3-dimensional qualities of the figure in poses is preferred - All body types welcome. Previous experience with life modeling and drawing sessions is preferred but not required.
