Responsibilities

The Office of Financial Aid is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions, Office of the University Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management's integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the students development and progression in their academic experience - from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.

This position is responsible for assisting in coordinating, planning, administering, assessing, and evaluating financial aid outreach, recruitment, and educational initiatives that support the Universitys student success goals. The position also provides direct customer service support by assisting students, families, and stakeholders through email correspondence, telephone inquiries, and walk-in consultations, ensuring accurate, timely, and professional responses to financial aid questions and concerns.

Partners with staff from the Office of Admissions and the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) regarding application review for the Summer Bridge Program. Coordinates with campus partners on program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. The role develops and implements programs designed to expand educational opportunities, increase awareness of financial aid resources, and foster engagement. Through strategic partnerships, outreach efforts, and educational programming, the specialist helps create meaningful experiences and opportunities for all populations.

Position is responsible for developing and implementing financial aid initiatives for students. Assists staff from the Office of Admissions and Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement on program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Responsible for the awarding, processing, and monitoring of all related aid within this program and ensures timely dissemination of financial aid funds.

Under the direction of the Financial Aid Outreach Manager, the position develops outreach training programs regarding financial aid topics for campus partners in accordance with federal, state, and institutional policies.

Responsible for conducting information sessions and FAFSA/Financial Aid workshops to increase financial literacy and to educate students on financial aid processes for eligibility; document completion requirements and all aspects of financial aid delivery; repayment options and debt counseling to ensure students make informed decisions, etc. This will include financial aid processes such as return of Title IV; takes corrective action as needed to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policy as a result of students officially or unofficially withdraws from the university and calculates the return of federal Title IV funds as it pertains to the program. Reviews, monitors, evaluates, and improves processes related to withdrawals.

Shares in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures; making suggestions and recommendations to Financial Aid Outreach Manager. Assists with coordinating student financial programs and other sections during peak times to support the goals of the Office of Financial Aid.

Extensive travel to high schools. Counsels prospective students and their family members about the process of applying for financial aid and the financial aid opportunities available at the University. Frequent contact with high school counselors. Some contact with teachers, principals, and college/university officials.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of relevant experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Drivers License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of experience related to the responsibilities of the job are preferred.

  • Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and information and follow through on assignments.
  • Applicants should be able establish and maintain effective working relationships and should possess a strong sense of initiative while managing multiple responsibilities concurrently.
  • Experience working with various populations and counseling on financial aid and university matters.
  • Candidates should have knowledge of financial aid resources available to university students.
  • Candidates should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated salary range for this position is around $44,056.80 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
