    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Graduate Assistant

    Semester Stipend: $6,000

    The Graduate Assistant will support the department/organization in various administrative and operational tasks.

    Job Description

    The WCA will be charged with leading teams of peer educators, working collaboratively with other ALTC staff, supporting ALTC services and programs, and performing research related to writing support in higher education. The WCA is a direct supervisor for Writing Center tutors and reports to the Writing Center Director and/or the Director of the ALTC. 10-15 hours per/week.

    JOB DUTIES

    • Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the ALTC''s Writing Center program
    • Interviewing and hiring new writing tutors alongside the Writing Center Director
    • Onboarding new writing tutors and ensuring they are adequately trained and aware of ALTC policies
    • Observing and evaluating team members
    • Scheduling and helping lead regular team meetings that emphasize Writing Center pedagogy and team building.
    • Helping liaise between the Writing Center and the English Department's Writing Program
    • Performing research on topics including: writing center pedagogy, collaborations between writing centers and writing programs, writing support in higher education
    • Promoting the Writing Center to campus classes, programs, and student groups
    • Assisting the ALTC staff in organizing and delivering special programs during the semester and creating promotional materials.

    Qualifications:

    • Active enrollment as a graduate student at Tulane University
