Interns with the Department of Student Health, Advocacy, and Wellness (SHAW) obtain hands-on experience in their program of study in preparation for graduation and employment in their chosen field.

All SHAW interns:

• Serve as peer educators for fellow WSU Students, creating and providing health communication in a variety of formats (written, visual, social media, interpersonal, presentations, etc.), and at various on-campus events.
• Assist with programming, marketing, outreach and promotional efforts.
• Research common campus concerns and evidence-based solutions to address them.
• Maintain familiarity with campus and community resources.
• Work on an interdisciplinary team with fellow interns.

Additional duties are determined by program of study.

Required Qualifications

• Current WSU student
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
• During your time with us, must be registered for 12 credit hours (or 6 for summer). Students in graduate programs must be registered for 6 credit hours.
• Eligible for internship credit through your program of study (please meet with your department advisor for eligibility criteria)
• Majoring in Health Promotion, Nutrition Education, Public Health, Health Administration, or graduate students from a related program of study

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference is given to students who are approaching graduation.

This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
