Job Title: Student Health Coordinator Reports to: Director of Campus Services Department/Group: Campus Services Travel Required: N/A School: LS Position Type: Full -time, Exempt Salary: Commensurate with experience Calendar: 10-Month Job Description Qualifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification fro m the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within three months (90 days) of hi re date or job transfer date required. High school diploma or GED required. Valid Hearing and Vision Screening certification pr eferred. Minimum three years of certified medical assistant experience; experience working with children with disabilities preferred. At least one of these years in a school setting is preferred. Understanding of Texas state health requirements fo r school-aged children. Ability to manage and support students across a wid e age range (PK3-12) with a loving attitude. Ability to exercise excellent judgment in diagnosis and decision-making. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priori ties. Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities, prioritizing responsivenes s to crucial stakeholders. Organizational Overview Founded in 2001 and rooted in the Christian faith, Yellowstone Schools collectively educates 600 children in Pre-K through 10th grade a nd will grow a grade each year to serve 12th grade by 2026. Yellowstone partners with students and families-regardless of financial means-to provide a life-changing educatio n, develop a strong moral foundation, and prepare scholars for life beyond high school. Most students served live in communities without ac cess to strong educational opportunities. With classes ranging in size from 16 to 22, our students experience a rich academic and co-curricular model while receiving bu s transportation, two meals a day, and access to a comprehensive student support progr am. Yellowstone Schools consists of a cooperative of tw o school systems: a lower school (a private Christian school serving PreK-5th grade) an d an upper school (a tuition-free, public charter school growing to serve 6th-12th grade). Each school complies with all applicable federal an d state laws. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Education and Knowledge Certified Medical Assistant Certification. CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification. Vision/Hearing Screening Certification. Participate in the surveillance and prevention of c ommunicable diseases and comply with state and federal reporting guidelines. Educate students, family members, and faculty by pr omoting a wellness environment and ensuring the health, comfort, and s afety of students. Acanthosis Nigricans Screening Certification (Diabe tes). Trained Scoliosis screener. Understanding of child growth and development. Understanding basic health care procedures. Key Responsibilities Report regional data from mandated health screening s to the Director of Campus Services and conduct these screenings and subsequen t data input. Monitor student health plans and services provided to students with chronic illnesses. Participate, with members of the Campus Services te am, in developing workshops on health-related topics for teachers and faculty. Track and record student health, immunization data, and medication administration for all students. Conduct medication administration and support in he alth-related meetings for students and families. Provide technical support to all front office staff and input to school leaders regarding front office support. Other duties as assigned. Work Environment & Physical Demands Fast-paced school setting with frequent interaction with staff, students, and families. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for school events or emergencies. Must be comfortable navigating a school campus and responding to a variety of operational issues. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Compensation and Benefits Base salary will be commensurate with qualification s and experience.
