The Student Health Services Physician provides comprehensive, outpatient primary care services exclusively to University of California, Riverside (UCR) students. The Physician delivers evidence-based medical care that integrates prevention, health education, reproductive health, gender-affirming care, and holistic health principles to support student well-being and academic success. The incumbent will lead the clinical implementation of SB24 mandates and requires provision of Medication Abortion (Med AB) services and gender-affirming healthcare consistent with California law, professional standards of practice, and Student Health Services policies. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $275,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Patient Care Services Provide comprehensive primary care and outpatient medical and minor surgical diagnostic and treatment services to UCR students, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. Utilize all clinical encounters to provide health education and preventive services, supporting informed decision-making and long-term wellness. Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with evidence-based guidelines, California law, and institutional policy. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic studies and incorporate results into treatment plans. Make appropriate referrals for complex diagnostic, procedural, or specialty care and coordinate continuity of care. Staff specialty clinics, which can include Women's Health and Triage/Urgent Care, providing timely assessment, treatment, and health education to a young adult population, consistent with training, credentialing, and approved clinical privileges. Integrate holistic health principles into care, addressing physical health, mental health, lifestyle factors, and social determinants of health.Other Duties Participate in shared governance and collaborative decision-making through Student Health Services committees and workgroups. Contribute to the development, review, and continuous improvement of clinical protocols, procedures, and policies. Support student health education and prevention programs in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and campus partners. Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and accreditation activities, as assigned.Medication Abortion & Gender-Affirming Care Provide Medication Abortion (Med AB) services to eligible students, including assessment, counseling, informed consent, prescribing, clinical management, and follow-up care, in compliance with California law and Student Health Services policy. Provide gender-affirming and transgender healthcare, including primary care, preventive services, and management of gender-affirming hormone therapy when clinically indicated and within scope of licensure and privileging. Deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care that supports autonomy, dignity, and informed choice. Coordinate referrals and follow-up care for reproductive health and gender-affirming specialty services as needed. In collaboration with CMO and other clinical leadership, lead clinical implementation of SB24 mandates.
