Position Summary:
The SIS Support Specialist serves as an advanced application support and data specialist, providing support for PowerSchool, Schoology (LMS) and related student information systems. This role functions as a PowerSchool super user, supporting complex troubleshooting, advanced reporting, data validation, and system configuration. The position assists with PIMS data preparation and issue resolution and works collaboratively with data and Technology Services staff to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant data reporting.
This is a central office position reporting to the Data Architect (PIMS). The role collaborates with Technology Services staff, data administrators, registrars, and program personnel and serves as an advanced escalation resource for PowerSchool and data-related issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-5 years administrative experience in academic registration, student information systems, or a related field
Essential Job Responsibilities:
A. PowerSchool Technical Support
- Serve as an advanced support resource for PowerSchool, resolving basic to moderately complex to complex issues, managing staff and student accounts, troubleshooting parent accounts, attendance management, creating/editing object reports, Ecollect Forms, student scheduling, PowerTeacher Pro, Schoology, Clever
- Act as a PowerSchool super user, providing guidance to registrars, data clerks, and program staff on system functionality and best practices.
- Analyze system behavior using knowledge of PowerSchool data fields, tables, and relationships to identify and resolve issues.
B. Data Support, Imports, and System Integration
- Support data imports, exports, and file exchanges between PowerSchool and third-party systems using established templates and workflows.
- Troubleshoot data mapping and validation issues related to student, staff, scheduling, and assessment data.
- Monitor routine data processes to ensure successful completion and data accuracy.
C. Reporting & Data Analysis
- Develop and maintain advanced PowerSchool reports and data extracts using SQL, built-in reporting tools, and Excel.
- Assist program leadership and data staff with data analysis, verification, and recurring reporting needs.
- Support data cleanup efforts to improve reporting accuracy and system usability.
D. PIMS Support & Data Quality
- Assist with PIMS data preparation, validation, and troubleshooting, including resolving submission errors and data inconsistencies.
- Support Data Administrators and the Data Architect by researching data issues and verifying corrections within PowerSchool.
- Help ensure system configurations and data entry practices support accurate state reporting.
E. Customer Service & Stakeholder Support
- Provide responsive, professional, and solution-focused technical support to customers, particularly during high-impact reporting cycles.
- Communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly to non-technical users, adjusting communication style as needed.
- Build strong working relationships with program staff and registrars to promote trust in data systems.
F. Documentation, Training & Collaboration
- Create and maintain user-focused documentation, job aids, and troubleshooting guides related to PowerSchool and data processes.
- Provide formal and informal training and knowledge sharing for staff on system features, reporting tools, and data quality expectations.
- Collaborate with Technology Services, data staff, and vendors to resolve issues and improve system use.
G. Problem Solving & Independence
- Independently resolve assigned technical and data issues, escalating only when appropriate.
- Apply judgment in prioritizing support requests and balancing technical accuracy with customer needs and timelines.
Salary 2026-27 School Year:
Project, Level 13
$62,046- $77,557
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- placement on level is based on comparable experience in a similar role
Schedule:
- 7.5 hours per day/ 5 days per week (ex. 8 AM - 4 PM)
- 260 days/year
