Position Announcement

The Institutional Advancement Division is looking for the right candidate to fill a student part-time Office Assistant position. Our division fundraises, hosts events, and networks to help students, faculty, and staff have the resources needed to succeed and move Utah Valley University to the future! We would love for you to be a part of that legacy.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Office Assistant oversees a variety of associated administrative duties within Institutional Advancement. Duties include welcoming guests and donors to the Young Living Alumni Center, maintaining conference rooms, stocking breakrooms and copy rooms. Additionally, offer general staff support, and planning activities, some of which require advanced or specialized knowledge and skills, such as facilities scheduling, inventory control, specialized record keeping, and/or specified information-gathering projects and tasks. Coordinates and facilitates meetings, program functions, and/or special events, as appropriate.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

  • Must be a current UVU student.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Knowledge of campus resources.
  • Knowledge of customer service practices.
  • Skill in reception methods, techniques, and practices.
  • Skill in computer software applications.
  • Skill in interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform a variety of secretarial duties with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to follow oral and written procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to meet and professionally interact with the public.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
