Position Summary: The Boston Medical Center seeks an Engineering/Facilities Intern pursuing a BS in Facilities / Mechanical Engineering. The intern will assist the Facilities Operations Department with operations and construction projects, update CAD‑based floor plans, and help develop the Preventive Maintenance Program for the 20+ medical campus buildings. Compensation: 40 hrs/week, $17/hr.ResponsibilitiesAssist with operations and construction projects, including updating CAD-based floor plans.Help build and maintain the Preventative Maintenance Program for over 20 facilities.Provide technology and MEP operations input for the BAS/DDC system.Troubleshoot BAS with Control Center staff and managers.Conduct routine audits of the BAS to ensure proper operation, sequence integrity, and energy efficiency.Assist with troubleshooting and auditing of the CMMS, ensuring accurate inventory and effective reductions in equipment failures.Support the CMMS and coordinate external programming and technical support for system expansion.Maintain the central database of building documents: blueprints, manuals, CAD files, and specifications.Provide feedback and recommendations to management on technology use to improve operations, efficiency, and customer service.Set internship goals in collaboration with peers and supervisors.EducationRecent college graduate or student enrolled in a related graduate or undergraduate degree program, preferably beyond a second semester junior.Knowledge and SkillsAbility to understand and analyze technical documents, blueprints, contracts, specifications, energy reports and charts of accounts.A high level of analytical ability is needed due to the complexity of problems encountered.Effective Business English skills with the ability to communicate professionally with a wide variety of people at different levels of the organization.Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions in English and ability to read, comprehend, and work from plans and blueprints.Highly organized and ability to maintain proper productivity and work flow for multiple projects.Must be a team player and able to maintain cooperative working relationships.Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
