Position Announcement
Utah Valley University seeks a student to assist the Communication Department during the 2026-2027 academic year.
Temporary Assignment - Fall Semester August 10, 2026 - May 15, 2027
20 Hours per week maximum at $15 per hour.
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with faculty to create social media content.
- Generate, edit, publish, and share engaging content daily (status text, photos, videos, news, etc.).
- Create a monthly newsletter for Communication students.
- Serve as the point person for general student inquiries.
- Assist with the department website.
- Assist the Department Chair with regional conference planning.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Must be a current UVU student in Applied Communication or Public Relations and Strategic Communication major with Junior or Senior status
- Ability to devote an entire year (two semesters)
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Knowledge and experience with creative software and social media (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Knowledge of working with diverse populations.

About Company
Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
