Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.
We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented student intern to provide support for multiple projects in Dr. Tanya Spruills research lab. Current projects include clinical trials testing mindfulness-based interventions in various patient populations including hypertension, heart disease, and epilepsy, as well as observational cohort studies examining the role of stress and mental health in these populations. The student intern will work with questionnaire, blood pressure, and intervention data, under the direction of Dr. Spruill and the teams Program Coordinator. T
he successful applicant will be able to work semi-autonomously for 10-12 weeks, part-time during Summer 2026 (June-August) with the potential to extend position into the 2026 academic year. The position provides students with an opportunity to apply and deepen their skills in behavioral medicine, health psychology, and health disparities research. Interns will gain hands-on experience working with group-based mindfulness interventions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator and the study team to ensure the accurate execution of the study protocol in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, IRB, and sponsor regulations. This is a hybrid position where the student intern will be expected to perform some work at 180 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016 and some work virtually.

To qualify you must have a
- Bachelors degree and current enrollment in a Masters or Doctoral program in a related field (e.g., psychology, public health, epidemiology, medicine).
- Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications.
- Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
- Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to follow study protocol rigorously.
- Willingness and availability to work evening hours as needed for intervention support.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
