Overview
Perform the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regime prescribed by a physician; the transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of respiratory care; proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing; recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities; implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician.
Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma or GED; Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC under CAAHEP or a successor organization.
Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred
Licenses/Certificates: Pursuant to Section 34-27B-11, Code of Alabama (1975), respiratory therapystudents may perform limited respiratory therapy procedures as an employee of anyhealthcare facility while enrolled in a respiratory therapy program accredited by CoARCunder CAAHEP or successor organization. The student employee shall be designated bytitle as a student or trainee and shall work under direct clinical supervision. Upon graduation, must obtain a temporary license to practice until such time as they achieve the CRT or RRT credential. The temporary license for a recent respiratory therapist graduate is valid for six months. Current BLS certification on hire or within the first 30 days of hire Will need to obtain NRP, PALS, and ALS certification within 30 days of graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
