Job Title
Temporary Student Intern with a Work with a large, mission-driven public agency that supports essential water, environmental, and infrastructure services for a major metropolitan region

Assignment Details
Duration: 960 Hours in a fiscal year
Work Schedule: Part-time: 15-20hr/week
Start Date: to be discussed
Pay Rate: $28.27
 
Role Overview
The Student Intern will support Valley Water's Water Supply Planning & Conservation team by assisting with water conservation programs, customer service activities, public outreach efforts, and administrative tasks. The role provides hands-on experience with water conservation initiatives, GIS tools, Oracle-based systems, and customer engagement while developing professional office and communication skills.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service support and respond to inquiries received through the Water Conservation Hotline.
  • Process applications related to water conservation programs.
  • Assist with the implementation and administration of long-term water conservation initiatives.
  • Support the Landscape Rebate Program and related customer service activities.
  • Participate in public outreach events and community engagement activities.
  • Utilize GIS and Oracle-based database systems to support program operations.
  • Perform general administrative and office support tasks.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by the department.
 
Required Experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications in an academic or professional setting.
  • Experience providing customer service or interacting with customers/public stakeholders.
  • General office or administrative experience.
  • Ability to learn and work with database systems and business applications.

Preferred:
  • Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
  • Exposure to water conservation, environmental, sustainability, or public utility programs.
  • Experience supporting public outreach or community engagement events.
  • Familiarity with rebate or customer incentive programs.
  • Experience working with Oracle or similar database platforms.
