Job Description

The primary role of the Nutrition Coach position is to assist peer Nutrition clients with lifestyle changes to help them reach their health goals through one-on-one visits, tabling events across campus, and various nutrition presentations. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in an outpatient - clinical dietetics environment. The Nutrition Coach position should work 3-5 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The Nutrition Coach position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.

Prerequisite(s)

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in nutrition, especially performance nutrition as it relates to the college population, and strong desire to gain knowledge and experience from nutrition counseling.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University
• Enrolled in or passing grade from NUTR 332
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
• Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills

• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Be timely and organized

Position Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and risk management standards of the department
• Document client sessions and develop personal goals for improving nutrition counseling skills
• Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to clients
• Handle unpredictable client visits and prioritize responsibilities while continuing to provide the highest level of customer service
• Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
• Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester). Responsible for 1-2 weekly shifts that can range between 1-2 hours in length within PUSH hours of operation (Monday-Friday 8am-5pm).
• Complete and attend all training, scheduled staff meetings, & professional development to gain and/or share pertinent information, or communicate ahead of time alternate time to collect information
• Other duties as assigned such as collaborate and assisting with other special events such as tabling as assigned by PUSH Leadership
