Overview:The Student Life- RHC student employee will provide customer service and administrative support to students, employees and visitors requesting assistance and/or additional guidance. Students in this role will be generally trained on administrative tasks, customer service, and resources at Oakton Community Colleges. A typical day could include staffing front desk, answering phone and emails, assisting student clubs, providing event support, answering questions/directing students & visitors to the right place or completing a special project detailed by supervisor or staff.Department Name: Student Life and Campus Inclusion (SLCI)Campus Location: Skokie Length of Employment: Fall 26-Spring 26 and/or summer and renewing applicationCan a student do homework in this position?SometimesHours Available: Looking for coverage during M and W - 9 am-6 pm, T and R - 9 am-6 pm and Friday 9am-1 pmHours could be 10-12 hours per week.Schedule Flexibility: Flexible with schedule but with some consistency with hours needing to fill. Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities (TDRs) and Learning OutcomesIn the left column, list the specific tasks for which the student employee will be responsible.In the right column, select the applicable learning outcome(s) that is (are) demonstrated by mastering said task, duty, and/or responsibility.Complete onboarding/training with staff from SLCI.PFConduct daily routine to open or close the office including but not limited to: unlocking & locking doors, checking voicemail and email, sorting campus mail, viewing schedule for the day, and wiping down tables in conference rooms.PFPerform assignments or tasks on a timely manner as outlined by the supervisor or staff.PF/TCAssist with preparations and set up/break down of events and activities in Student Life and the Center for Campus Inclusion and Diversity.PF/EI/TW/CDProvide office support with general projects including but not limited to: typing, filing, scanning, copying, cash handling, posting and organizing supplies/materials. PF/TCMaintain confidentiality and secure handling of paperwork containing personal and academic information.PFRefer students and visitors to proper offices/resources based on individual's need.PF/CMCommunicate with supervisor and staff regarding any challenges or issues that arise during each assignment or task and collaborate with staff in finding solutions.CT/CDProvide support and assistance in completing students orders for the Caring Closet.TWCandidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities or KSOAs)Must be a currently enrolled at Oakton College in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters. Employment over the summer is allowed for students taking at least 1 credit class during the summer, or students continuing registration into the following Fall semester.Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.Demonstrated reliability and responsibility.Outgoing, flexible, organized, creative, respectful, and punctuality a must.Good communication and organizational skills.Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE).Demonstrated ability to work independently.Familiar with social media like Instagram, Facebook, to name a few.Some evening hours.Eligible to work in the United States.
