Student Position-Vice President of Finance for the Business Competition Team

Department: Business Administration

Rate of Pay: $16-17 Per Hour (Pay range may vary based on geographic location)

Location: Columbia College

Purpose/ Job Summary:

The VP of Finance is responsible for maintaining the operating budget for the Business Competition Team and ensuring the funds are utilized to put the Business Competition Team in the best position to execute annual team goals, competition travel, team development, marketing, and recruitment. Reporting to the Director of the Business Competition Team & Robert W. Plaster School of Business Events and functionally reporting to the President of the Business Competition Team, duties include, but are not limited to:

Essential Functions:

  • Monitoring the Payroll and Operating Budgets for the Business Competition Team and reporting spending.
  • Collaborating with the Director and Leadership Team on the following: 1) managing the approved operating and payroll budget for the Fiscal Year to maximize the return on the spending; 2) developing a Payroll and Operating Budget proposal for the upcoming Fiscal year to meet future needs and long-term plans
  • Reporting updates on operating budgets to the Director and Executive Board to ensure it is at the forefront of planning.
  • Ensuring the entirety of the approved operating budget is spent by the end of the Fiscal Year.

Qualifications:

Ability to fluently read, write, and understand the English language, one year''s experience with CSMAC, graphic design and social media experience, and excellent organizational and communication skills. Applicants must be current Columbia College students, with junior or senior standing preferred. There is only one Student Marketing Project Manager, and applications are accepted until the position is filled.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions; however, possible exposure to hazards and physical risks to personal safety may occur while operating certain equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
