Position Announcement

Under the direction of the Program Director-Interfaith and the Coordinator-Interfaith Engagement, assists in facilitating access to the Reflection Center and its resources, maintaining said Center and resources, and the facilitation of a variety of activities and efforts associated with the Reflection Center and Interfaith Engagement program.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Interfaith Engagement, provide reception by welcoming, directing incoming traffic, and monitoring use of rooms in the Reflection Center.
  • Assist visitors and answer questions as needed.
  • Enforce rules of conduct for the Center.
  • Maintain the space both physically and virtually including, but not limited to, updating convening room library and facility inventories, as well as religious holiday calendars, and social media campaigns.
  • Encourage utilization of the space and participation in the events/activities of the Reflection Center.
  • Facilitate group discussions at Reflection Center events.
  • Facilitate Reflection Center Events.
  • Oversee information tables at outreach events to increase campus awareness of the Center as well as its religious literacy and interfaith engagement campaigns.
  • Maintain the Reflection Center space both physically and virtually including, but not limited to, updating Convening Room library and facility. inventories, as well as religious holiday calendars, and social media campaigns.
  • Attend Reflection Center Meetings and Trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

  • Must be a current UVU student.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both orally and in writing.
  • A knowledge of social media platforms and the basic use for marketing/advertising.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to exercise a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to quickly assess needs and find solutions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated skill set in working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of technological platforms including but not limited to work processing, email communications, etc.

Utah Valley University was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training. CUVS was part of the Provo School District located in south Provo. The institution received a state appropriation in March 1945 of $50,000 to operate for the 1945-1947 biennium. In 1947, the school received funding as a permanent state institution. A new site for the school was acquired on University Avenue in Provo in 1948; in the 1952, the state appropriated funding for the first construction on that site. As enrollments grew, the state acquired over 185 acres in southwest Orem and the first building was completed in 1977. Today, the University’s facilities consist of a combined total of 412 acres with 50 buildings with campuses in Orem, Provo, and Heber City and property in Vineyard and at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
