The Student Salon Coordinator is responsible for creating an exceptional guest experience and supporting the daily operations of the student salon at Jean Madeline Institute. This position serves as a primary point of contact for guests, manages appointments and transactions, provides information about salon services and retail products, and works closely with fellow team members to ensure a welcoming, professional, and organized salon environment.
Essential Job Functions
Including but not limited to:
- Welcome guests and provide a warm, friendly, and professional first impression.
- Schedule and manage guest appointments and maintain an accurate daily appointment book.
- Check guests in and out and accurately process payments and other transactions.
- Answer guest questions regarding salon services, pricing, appointments, and retail products.
- Recommend retail products and promote salon services based on guest needs.
- Support students and educators to help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the student salon.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and inviting reception and retail area.
- Assist with retail stocking, merchandising, and inventory as needed.
- Address guest questions, concerns, and service issues with professionalism, care, and appropriate follow-through.
- Maintain accurate records and follow established salon procedures and organizational policies.
- Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, accountability, and a commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of related experience preferred, particularly in customer service, hospitality, retail, front desk, or another guest-facing role.
- Previous salon, spa, or beauty industry experience is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organization, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Positive, dependable, and team-oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
Physical Requirements
- This is a standing-only position requiring the ability to stand and move throughout the campus for the duration of the work shift.
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, and stock retail products and supplies as needed.
- Ability to move throughout the student salon and campus and perform other physical activities associated with the position.
