Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Student Services Advisor assists in the development and implementation of GSS Student Services policies, procedures, requirements, activities, and events. The Student Services Advisor provides direct support to GSS students across all campuses and academic programs.
The position requires periodic travel and occasional evening and weekend work.
Essential Functions
Delivers academic advisement to BASW/MSW students regarding curriculum requirements, plans of study, and institutional policies to facilitate timely progress toward degree completion.
Assists students with course planning, registration, and problem-solving.
Educates students about academic program requirements and expectations, student rights and responsibilities.
Supports students' social & emotional well-being and provides information & referrals when appropriate (e.g., Office of Disability, Counseling/Psychological services).
Demonstrates awareness and respect for diversity, equality, and inclusion in all interactions.
Manages and maintains systems and protocols for student and Students Services-related communications.
Ensures the accuracy and integrity of student records within University systems (e.g., Banner, DegreeWorks, Slate) in strict accordance with FERPA regulations to support operational effectiveness.
Coordinates student-related events and activities, including orientation, registration, graduation, and career development workshops, to enhance the student educational experience.
Participates in Student Services Department meetings and GSS/University meetings and events as required.

Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a student support services environment.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills.
Strong professional written and oral communication skills.
Ethical, sound judgment, detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.
Function independently as part of a team and able to adapt to changes in priorities.
Technical proficiency with commonly used software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and the ability to learn specialized university data systems.
Preferred Qualifications
MSW degree.
Experience within a higher education setting.
Minimum Starting Salary $65,000 Maximum Starting Salary $70,000 Note Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills. Is this a Union position? No
