Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Student Services Specialist Senior. This position will assist appropriate college personnel, students, schools, and community agencies serving K-12 and college-bound populations in accessing and engaging in the Estrella Mountain Community College Concurrent Enrollment processes, providing accurate information, resources, and support. This position works collaboratively with internal departments and external partners.

To best serve the students, department, and college, this position is fully in-person.

Essential Functions

30% - Performs a variety of student services functions such as: recruitment, testing, advisement, orientation and registration for new and continuing students; provides assistance in related student services processes including admissions, financial aid, campus tours, recruitment and retention activities; provides services for students participating in outreach programs and their parents/guardians; represents the college in various recruitment and retention activities and events, including travel to local high schools, community and other outreach related events; prepares and delivers group information sessions to new and prospective students and parents. Meets with students using a variety of modalities, including in-person or virtually, depending on student needs. Develops, coordinates, and implements strategies for recruiting new and returning students in alignment with MCCCD/EMCC strategic enrollment goals. Prepares recruitment materials, coordinates event logistics with external stakeholders, and assists in the development of presentations and outreach materials. Connects students with additional support services and resources as needed.

30% - Monitors and maintains an appropriate campus outreach and retention based environment for college students, school age students, and the community at large by maintaining accurate records, assisting students with follow-up activities, responding to prospective student inquiries; enforces and/or explains federal, state, district and/or local policies; provides information to students, parents and other stakeholders regarding various student services and academic/occupational/workforce development programs; assists in student activities and participates in program events; serves as primary liaison for concurrently enrolled students and their parents/guardians. Supports prospective students in troubleshooting complex admissions and enrollment issues. Perform complex, detail-oriented review and processing of student academic records, including data entry. Assists with checks and balances regarding Maricopa Grant. Ensure compliance with FERPA and applicable policies, maintaining strict confidentiality of student information.

20% - Provides first semester academic advising to prospective, new, and continuing students in person and via email, phone, and chat; assists students in program planning and course selection through the interpretation of placement tests; assists students regarding degree and graduation requirements and university transfer requirements; corresponds with students to resolve problems related to student service functions; tracks progress of students from matriculation through graduation

10% - Prepares materials and communication mediums by assisting with the development of recruitment and advisement-related materials and presentations; organizes and distributes information as necessary. Provides support for cross-functional initiatives and special events, including peak enrollment periods, new-student welcome sessions, orientation, dual enrollment onboarding, and other college events. Participates in enrollment and retention projects related to student learning, success, and retention.

10% - Assists with special projects as assigned; performs other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.
