Primary Purpose:
Serve as a liaison between campus, district departments, families, and outside organizations within our special services programs. Coordinate and create routes tailored to the specific needs of our students served by our special services programs.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class B) with passenger, air brake and safety endorsements.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- TEA certification
- Ability to read, understand and communicate in English.
- Above average proficiency in MS Word, Google, MS Excel and MS Power Point include the ability to create databases, queries and reports required.
- Strong data analysis skills
- Experience with school bus routing software.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strong conflict resolution skills, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to serve as a liaison.
- Ability to handle occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
- Ability to handle confidential information and follow federal and state guidelines on the filing and maintaining of confidential files.
- Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide Student Service programs such as PACEE, SEAC, Early Childhood, Deaf, Autistic, Merakey, and ATC with specific transportation needs.
- Review student data and support evaluation processes to ensure designated transportation accommodation and safety needs are being met
- Understand and monitor IEP, IHP and BIP implementation requirements and accommodations per student following federal, state and district policies.
- Collaborate with behavioral interventionist, diagnostician, and ARD facilitator
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education laws and regulations
- Create and maintain routing for students within the special services categories.
- Work with Operations Manager to ensure students' needs and any disciplinary procedures for students with disabilities follow legal, IEP and BIP requirements
- Collaborate with the transportation department and instructional staff to meet the needs of students with disabilities
- Communicate with our training department the required specific skills needed to assist students while using transportation so that drivers and monitors can be trained.
- Compile, maintain, and submit required reports and documentation
- Attend professional development, department, district, and campus meetings as required
- Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment needed to assist in the transportation of students.
- Maintain confidentiality in working and maintaining student information by following all federal and state guidelines.
- Occasional district and statewide travel
- Participate in Annual Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training on de-escalation techniques and nonrestrictive interventions
- Maintain SHARS records and collect reports and information on SHARS from drivers and monitors
- Maintain records on all Mckinney Vento and special services required reporting including but not limited too mileage.
