    Position Information

    Job Title Student Success Coach (Grant Funded Position) Position Summary

    Student Success Coach helps students identify barriers to academic success and assist them in creating action plans for overcoming those challenges. Student Success Coach helps students maximize their potential for academic success by supporting them holistically and by assisting them in gaining effective strategies and behaviors to enable them to persist from semester to semester.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Work collaboratively with the Academic Advisor and Academic Coach to

    respond to academic alerts, manage cases, and assist with other caseload campaigns and interventions for a specific population of students

    Work one-on-one with students to identify and overcome barriers to their academic

    success

    Facilitate workshops that cover such topics as study skills, test-taking strategies, time management, and procrastination to improve academic success and retention.

    Serve as an academic coach for a cohort of undergraduate students

    Meet with students one-on-one to assess current practices and create success plans

    Provide individualized outreach to students based on identified risk factors including

    academic and socio-emotional

    Assist in the design and facilitation of interventions and programs aimed at facilitating success in college

    Generate reports and utilize data to discern patterns of success/difficulty and design

    strategic interventions

    Demonstrate effective academic success strategies and provide accountability partnerships

    Identify student needs and escalate or refer to other campus departments when appropriate

    Partner and work cooperatively with other departments on campus such as Academic Success Experience course (ASE), Ram Rebound course and Residence Life.

    Education, Certifications and/or Licenses

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university highly preferred.

    Experience

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university highly preferred.

    At least 2 years of experience in university or college level learning center administration is preferred.

    Experience and/or expertise in assessing student academic support needs.

    Experience in tutoring or teaching.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products - emphasis on Excel. Sort/count/sum/function data, chart wizard, converting spreadsheets, and manage lists in spreadsheets or web pages using

    Exhibit patience and positive attitudes in the learning environment.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills

    Ability to instruct others

    Demonstrate knowledge in assisting students with study strategies

    Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success

    Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and maintain records in an orderly manner.

    Ability to work independently in the most efficient manner with minimum supervision.

    Ability to be discrete in handling confidential matters, while complying with privacy regulations.

    Ability to maintain a professional appearance and office atmosphere.

    Ability to take initiative to recognize and foresee needs.

    Ability to support and adhere to University and departmental policies and procedures.

    Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

    Ability to handle multiple tasks, while meeting deadlines.
